- Arbor Day Grants- The Division of Forestry, Fire and State Lands, USDA Forest Service and Utah Community Forestry Council provides annual Arbor Day celebration grant assistance. This grant is to provide funds for communities to meet one of the four criteria for Tree City USA, which is to proclaim and observe Arbor Day.
Communities who received 2009 Utah Arbor Day Cost-share grant money need to submit their final report by Friday, May, 29, 2009.Check back in February for more information on the 2010 Arbor Day Grants.
Utah cities, towns and communities interested in developing or improving a sustainable community forestry program and are NOT currently a Tree City USA (FFSL offers an expanded grant program for up to $5,000 for Tree City USA communities) may apply. The 2009 Arbor Day Grants are available. Please download the application below for details and form.

The grant committee for the Fire Department Assistance Grant has made its selections for the 2009 funds. Letters are being mailed to the fire departments who were awarded money and the grant amounts are also listed below.
The program represents a strong collaborative effort with the Department of the Interior, the U.S. Forest Service, the Utah Fire and Rescue Academy and the Utah Division of Forestry, Fire & State Lands to provide assistance to Utah’s fire departments. Each of these agencies share a strong commitment to improve the safety and capability of Utah’s fire service. The purpose of the Fire Department Assistance Grant program is to provide technical and financial assistance to the fire departments of Utah to improve their ability to safely and effectively provide fire protection and manage hazardous material incidents. Its primary objective is to assist communities in organizing, training and equipping fire departments. Download the grant application form and submit it by April 6, 2009.
